Casinos charging monthly for not using account

Do you think it is right for casinos to charge you a monthly fee after 12 months if you have not used the account. Why do some do this and some don't?. Surely there should be something in place where it states yes or no clearly so I am thinking that at the moment some casinos can take advantage of this.

We actually describe this issue in our Fair Gambling Codex https://casino.guru/fair-gambling-codex-for-casinos#dormant-accounts

I'm just going to quote one part from it since I 100% agree:

"We understand that casinos are not obliged to hold account balances that are not being used to gamble on a long-term basis.

However, we think that casinos should wait for at least 360 days (180 is the bare minimum that we tolerate without decreasing the casino's reputation rating) before taking anything and use all possible means and tools available to them to let players know about this in advance. If they do not, it's simply unfair.

...the amount of money deducted from the player's account should also be reasonable. Money should never be taken all at once unless the player only has a couple of cents in their account."

I'd also like to point out one thing: Casinos aren't banks. It's not a place where you should keep your money. Deposit, play, lose or win - make a withdrawal, repeat.

No, they only deduct money that you have in your casino balance. So if you leave 50€ on your casino account and leave it there for few years, you can actually lose the money at the end of the day. But the casino should always let you know that the money is there and inform you about possible charges etc.

Oh, that make sense then...

better question is why the heck will someone leave money on some casino for few years...

Eu me perguntava o mesmo !!!

There could be many reasons, but overall it's not too common practice. For example you win money, but you register in the casino using fake details, 3rd party payment method etc. You suddenly realise that the casino won't pay you if they find out that your details are fake. You're not able to verify your account, but you leave the money there. Ofc you should never register in a casino using fake details. That's just an example.

Another case that comes to my mind: You win from free spins, complete the wagering requirement, you win 11€. The minimum withdrawal is 20€ in the casino. They tell you that you need to make a deposit in order to withdraw. Maybe you don't trust the casino, you don't know how casinos work so you just leave the money there and never withdraw it.

There's still the option that you simply deposit 100€, lose 50, but leave 50 on your account and never log in again. According to my experience, for example players from Sweden sometimes just play a bit and leave some balance on their account until they come to play later. On the other hand, it's very rare to see this on some other markets. People and nations are different :-)

Sem dúvida, e analisando um pouco, há muitas possibilidades.

Hello. Do you have any personal experience with fees for a closed account in this casino?
