I thought something was dodgy about it haha. I wonder what makes them think they can falsely invoice people or what value it has to hit? I’ve been lucky as lots have not been via 3ds and Barclaycard terms state of not used and you didn’t think the price was what it was then chargeback will happen.

Yeah, I spoke to someone from the bank a while ago, who was clued up on all of this and said his got a team actively trying to shutdown some of the sites.

he said that’s the reason they don’t respond as if they did it would be evidence against them if anyone ever took them to court.

he also said tho he hasn’t got much "funding" as it were as the banks don’t care too much about it.

That doesn’t surprise me, ultimately the banks should be charging back under the correct reasoning then putting markers on any merchant that acts illegally that would be a start.

if I’m honest the banks get the money back sooner than we thing during chargeback. It will just sit in an account and they will then gain interest on it.

Absolute not.

Do you really think that the bank give interest to themselves? Do you really think they care about our ammount from chargebacks?

For then it's probably under 0.1% of what they are seeing on their own account each day.


It sits there until it's not reserved any longer due to they don't want it to been reversed again.

The banks also do chargebacks on MCC if you active trying to reach out to the merchant stated on your bank historic. People just need to give clarification and proof of contact with the merchant.


Use VISAs own rules, and PCA, to give clarification regarding your problem.


If the merchant don't reply, have an second account to watch if the reciever have active email (asking about something else), if not: thats enough proof.

Mate, the main way of banks making money is "interest income". It’s not false information It’s a fact, they won’t be making interest from themselves the money is used to lend off to other people which is where "interest income" comes from. Do a deep dive into it bro you’ll be surprised how it works.

The main point that I hate is Mastercard state as soon as the chargeback is initiated then a temp refund is paid to the issuer bank, so why do the likes of Chase sit on it for 45 days yet others don’t?

Banks income:

  1. Interest on loan (Most efficient way)
  2. Fees
  3. Investment
  4. Interest rate spread.

Point 5. is what you were talking about. On our chargebacks, that not more than few bucks they earn, and this is not what they care about.

  • Yes, The money you have in the bank is loaned to other. This is because there are more income for the bank to have the interest on loan rather to have that in the bank. Our amount here is not what they care about on point 4.

On £1000, the money they earn is not enough for a plastic bag these days. They don't care or "earn" money on that.


If you are trying to claim millions back, it's a different thing, but no one here is doing that (hopefully & thankfully).


I won 99% of my chargebacks, and got the last ones done in january. Now I'm only here trying to keep me away on gambling more.


Hearing everyones problems with gambling, and the illegal merchant helps me staying away from that. Only playing Sports on the Casino my country owns here, and there is none of this bullshit there. Aswell I'm helping teams in lower divisons by money I'm losing now. (Maximum of £10 each month now)

They are holding the money, because of:

  • You will not be able to use this money, and get you bank in negative
  • There is still a change that you will lose the chargeback

Problem here is not the bank, but why mastercard actually give a "temp" refund. I do believe its easier when the period for the merchant to answer is done, its already done by your bank and mastercard.


Sadly Mastercard is terrible on service, and I'm happy that I only have VISA.

Agreed on Mastercard it’s a mess the whole process with them, I have a lot with Visa thankfully and Barclays always refund within a few days.

Ideally Mastercard come under pressure with the media reports
