Hey Rob,

Im not sure I agree with your comments regarding how people who were destroyed by gambling didn’t understand what it can do to them.

Nobody goes into something and becomes addicted by choice. It is something that happens. It happens before you realise it.

From what you say about you not being compulsively committed to gambling just yet, I would say that is a major red flag. Seems as though you are more hooked than you actually realise.

I hope I am wrong and I do wish you success with your plan and hope it all works out for you. Be sure to take sometime away from gambling too, especially if you begin to lose more than you planned. That way you should be able to stay focused on your plan and hopefully you won’t fall into addiction like so many people do.

Stay safe.

For me, it's really the thrill of chance (or luck) and the excitement of winning on online slots. It might be a slow burn at first, but once you get the hang of it, or you're on a roll, it becomes harder to stop. Though, now, I do my best to have some form of control. I play responsibly and within my means. Also, I have to always tell my self that a slot is an online game, but it has it's risks so I should always take that into consideration.

According to what you wrote, you should already take your mind off gambling. After all, once you allow yourself not to stop in an attempt to win back the money, you are already taking the first step down the slippery slope of addiction.

Zorans, thank you for your advice. What you said in your first 5 paragraphs & sentences, is what I did & had happened. On Dec. 8, 2022, I started with a small bankroll with a $50 target a day, $1500 a month. I had won $51. Being a rookie, I was excited. After dinner, I was anxious to play another session. This is why the convenience of gambling from home is dangerous. I deviated from my game plan. Played, & won $53. I was hooked. My 2nd day, I played 4 sessions. the 3rd session I ended with losing $14. Won $117. My 3rd day, 4 sessions. Won, 68, 70, 48, 61. 4th day 3 sessions, won 57, 60, 63. 4th day 2 sessions, won,54, 113. 5th day, 3 sessions, won 71, 73, 45. 6th day 3 sessions. lost 45, won 142, lost 123. I realized my system wasn't bulletproof. 7th day 2 sessions, won 258, 45. I made my 1st mistake, but didn't know I did. I wanted to make up the loss. What I should've done was stick to the plan of $50. 8th day, 3 sessions, won, 53, 24, 131. 9th day, 2 sessions, won 91, 193 10th day 1 session, won 112. My balance was $2742

I started my 11th day greedy. My session wins were never under 100. My next 8 sessions covered 3 days. & were wins of, 155, 170, 175. 280, 426, 413, 472, 420. The last 2 wins were the same day. Rather than calling it a day, I got greedy. I played the 3rd session after dinner, I started off winning just over 200, but greed kept me playing. I started to lose & continued losing. Emotions took over, then I lost my mind, & ended up losing $3294. I started the session with $4231 & ended with $937. I took the next 2 days off.

3 days after taking 2 days of evaluating what caused the loss of the most money in one hour of my life. my balance was $5255. That's $1024 more than what it was before the biggest loss in my life. It took 12 sessions over 3 days. I withdrew $3000. It was my 19th day. I still didn't learn anything.

On Feb. 3, 2023, with a $5000 bankroll. I was stupid & got greedy. I set a 1 session target of $5000, I had done it over a dozen times in demo play without a loss & ended up losing that & the almost $2500 I had won. The same thing happened. I was winning, but kept going. I started losing. Emotions took over & I lost my mind. My mind was blank. I wasn't thinking, except that the next spin will win, it has to. I had lost many spins in a row, a win will be the next spin. It never happened. The good thing was I had withdrawn, $3000, $3805, & $4000. I tried downplaying, minimizing the loss telling friends that the casino just won back their money, until my best friend said. Was the money that you lost in your account? I said it was. He then said that it was your money that you lost, not the casinos. Point made.

I'm 64 as of last month, May 16th I started gambling at 63, & have experienced a lot in a short time. One of my most important traits is learning from the mistakes I have made. Sometimes it took 2. Burning myself twice is enough to know that I don't want to be burned a third time. I have abandoned things before when I knew that I could be burned again

After being burned 2 times, I have only one more chance of making this work. I'm due to receive a settlement for pain, suffering & loss of income from a car crash at no fault of my own that happened on May 3, 2021. I will copy your advice post & include it with the other do's & don'ts I have assembled.

Zorans, again, thank you for taking the time with sharing what you know. In a world where for the most part is every man for himself, it's awesome meeting someone who is willing to help.

Go make your own luck! Cheers!

I understand what you have said. I have stopped, but only until I receive the settlement from a car crash I was in 2 years ago. With new goals & a different mindset.

Thanks Kurt for your input I welcome all the advice I can get.

Go make your own luck! Cheers!

Hi Charlie, I truly appreciate your advice & concern. Many years ago, my stepfather had become so much in debt with underground sports betting, he signed over the title to the luxury condo he & my mother lived in & moved in with his brother.

The most important thing I must not deviate is my target win of $100 & stop/loss of $300 10% of my bankroll of $3000

Go make your own luck! Cheers!

Rob it's really nice to hear you've stopped🙂 Just because I will always look with caution at those who go gambling for money, and not just for fun. I understand your plans and the reasons why you are doing this. But still, I leave the hope that while you are waiting for compensation, you will already find or come up with another way to make money 🙂

This is a good way to get an adrenaline rush. I used to play a lot of computer games, but in the casino I get more fun and, if I'm lucky, money

Cool if you take it right 🙂 But I wouldn't be able to compare the fun of playing Diablo and playing in a casino

Hey Kurt, should an opportunity cross my path, I'll always check it out. I'm openminded because without getting pertinent information, I won't be able to make an informed decision. I'm amazed when anyone say they're not interested before seeing what it is they're not interested in. You can't judge a book by it's cover. As always, I appreciate any advice you pitch my way. Have a great Friday, & an even greater weekend.

Take care & be safe.

The biggest adrenaline rush happened only once. In Nov, 1994, a customer of mine took me skydiving. After 2 days of instructions. I used his rig since we were close to the same height & weight. He borrowed another friends rig. Mind you this is not something a drop zone anywhere would allow because there's a certification class that must be passed. Jumped out of a perfectly running airplane from 15,000 feet & had a 60 second freefall.

I'm 64, & I started casino gambling online with real cash last December playing roulette. Played demo roulette for over a year. I experience adrenaline rush only when I'm winning. Until then, I have anxiety, but it has gotten less than when I started, because I've been somewhat lucky my first 2 months. The last time I played was after my 2nd month when I lost $5000 in an hour, that took me 25 days to win. My 1st month was awesome. Started with $611 & 30 days later my balance was $10385. I'm fortunately still in the black. I'm taking a break until I have extra money that's coming soon. I gamble hoping to win of course, but some do it for entertainment, & that's fine as well. I suggest learning as much as you can on your game of choice from the internet, & practice your strategy or system here on Casino Guru. That is what I did. Make your own luck by doing the same.

Cheers

I nearly caved & almost went to the casino yesterday, but I didn't because the system that have been consistently winning in demo calls for a win in 10 spins. With a base bet of $5, I had enough money for only 8 spins. In demo, I've gone to the 10th spin 3 times over 35 demo sessions. Lost once. I bet on a single dozen. Now, when that happened, I was beyond my target win. I do that to see how far I can go until it goes to 10 spins. I've won on the 9th spin 4 times, also past my target win, So had I ended at my target, it would have no loss. In demo play, I'll quit when I reach my target, & restart & do the same over & over again. I rarely have lost

I didn't go. I'm glad I didn't. My system calls for 10 spins. Anything less is stupid, & the gaming god would confirm my stupidity. I've found that the longer the sessions, the chance of losing is greater. Almost every gambler will be ahead during a session, but most won't quit while ahead. My $5000 one session loss happened because of arrogance & stupidity. Stupid because I set my target at $5000 without a stop loss. & arrogant because I had just won over $5000 over 25 days. & over $9500 in my first month. I deserved what I got, a big loss. LOL

Hello Zorans, I agree with you 100%. Almost everything can be done both smart & stupid. A gambler can study, & practice as much of his game of choice until it performs consistently, or place bets according to his family's birthday, or anniversary, or whatever. I spent over a year demo playing many systems before I put real money into play. If it had been real money, I'd have won over 2 million dollars. My friends said I had beginners luck after my first month, until I did it again the second month

The person who drinks until drunk is already in peril, because he cannot make the right decision & not drive. Now the smart thing to do is make plans on how he is to leave the bar to get home before he is intoxicated. Only responsible drinkers do that & responsible gamblers will prepare accordingly. I view gambling as going to battle against the casino , & wise generals would never go to battle without a strategy, or get slaughtered. It's important to know casinos already has the edge & without preparing one should just throw their money to charity, not the casinos because they win most of their battles. So the choice is with the gambler. Play smart or stupid. Playing smart won't make you win 100% of the time. Like you have said, you win more than you have loss. There are thousands of successful gamblers throughout the world. It is possible for anyone who is smart. Go to school & learn your trade until you win more than you lose & you might be successful.

Go make your own luck, don't leave it to chance. Right Zorans?

Cheers

Hello, zoran71.

Can't say I disagree. But, being in a pub you won't expect to get the money back, will you? In casinos, people intend to try, because gambling offers such a possibility. Drinking doesn't.

As I said, I partly agree with you. 🙂

zorans71 if we talk about Dostoevsky, then he himself lost large sums in cards and found himself in a difficult financial situation. And his novel "The Gambler" is largely autobiographical. Even based on this, we can understand that it is not worth justifying gambling.

Why does everyone look at earning from playing in cassino as something that is bad?!

Most of the casino players are system players. This means that most likely their family suffers from this addiction. Is it possible to consider honest money that went not for children, but for spinning another slot?

I think playing occasionally for fun is one thing, but being a system player is another. Before you know it and you are already on the needle.
